Family Partners Needed!
If you want to be involved in Habitat but can't hammer a nail or commit
to weekly construction; if you like the idea of working with the families
who buy Habitat homes, then being a family partner is for you.
The Family Partner Committee works with our homeowner families
as soon as they are selected. A Family Partner is paired with one
family at a time, to act as their liason and advocate while the
family starts saving money for the closing and works steadily on their
sweat equity hours.
Responsibilities of being a family partner include attending monthly
committee meetings (we have great desserts!), familiarizing yourself
with the process of Habitat homeownership, and taking turns with the
other committee members to become a family partner. Family partners
generally meet several times with the Habitat family to go over
the family partner handbook, track sweat equity hours, put them in
contact with the architect and Building Committee as the house is
designed and built, plan their house dedication when the house is
complete, and be available to answer questions and offer support for
the family. The personal relationships you develop with the families
are very rewarding.
