Two billion people worldwide live in poverty housing, including 5.1 million American families. Habitat for Humanity's Cars for Homes™ program provides another tool to help break the cycle of poverty by donating cars, trucks, boats or other vehicles to help build homes in partnership with families in need of decent, affordable shelter.

Cars for Homes™ provides Habitat for Humanity an easy way to:

• Generate unrestricted revenues from vehicle donations by driving donors to the toll free telephone number 1-877-277-4344 and www.carsforhomes.org web site for processing.
• Expand the donor and volunteer base of Habitat for Humanity.
• Implement U.S. Collaborative Development Policy by working together to raise funds and build homes.
• Minimize risks and potential damages by utilizing an agent with a decade of experience with national, high-volume, low-risk, high-return vehicle donation programs.
• Increase awareness of Habitat for Humanity's local and global mission by creating national, regional and local promotional partnerships and media campaigns.
• Develop and distribute marketing materials and provide assistance and support to affiliates for local promotion of Cars for Homes™.

The level of success achieved by Habitat for Humanity's vehicle donation program in each community depends on the strength of the partnership between Cars for Homes™ and local affiliates. By working together to promote Cars for Homes™, we can generate broader awareness of Habitat's local and global mission, reach new donors and volunteers, and maximize unrestricted revenues to affiliates.

How Cars for Homes™ works:

1. Marketing campaigns generate awareness and reach donors. Habitat for Humanity (HFH) affiliates can utilize CFH marketing tools (click on links below to download) to supplement national and regional marketing campaigns. Affiliates can also identify a "Cars for Homes Champion" staff member or volunteer to receive support from CFH staff.

2. Vehicle donors are directed to call the Cars for Homes™ toll free number 1-877-277-HFHI (4344) or visit www.carsforhomes.org on the internet to donate.

3. Donor calls and internet donations are processed by Habitat for Humanity International's authorized national agent, ADESA Impact, through their National Vehicle Donation Program. Most whole vehicles (cars, trucks, boats, RVs, motorcycles and other vehicles) are accepted, provided the cost of processing and towing fees do not exceed the auction value of the vehicle.

4. Funds generated from vehicles sold via ADESA Impact's network of auto auctions, recyclers and salvage yards are sent to Habitat for Humanity International with specific donor information matching location to appropriate affiliate. Funds are distributed on a quarterly basis to the local HFH affiliate and donor contact information is sent via email.

5. Donors receive an acknowledgement letter thanking them for their donation and a second notice of the vehicle's sale price for use for possible tax deduction purposes. (Donors are encouraged to consult with the IRS or tax advisor.)
